WMD's and The Hit Board
Posted Sunday, January 18th, 2009
What's up pimps, we've got two new additions, and one change to make:
- The Hit Board: The hit board is basically a live feed of all the hits going on in the game. It can be useful to check this to see who may be weak, strong or you can just laugh at the ass-whoopins that people receive.
- Weapons of Mass Destruction: WMDs are new to the game. They're basically souped-up weapons that do more damage. You can only purchase them using credits, and they can't be carried from round to round.
WMDs can't be used in the Free Pimpin' round, and most weapons will leave you unable to attack for a period of time after using them, so be careful!
We're launching with the Dirty Bomb and will be adding more weapons as time goes on. Got a suggestion for a new weapon? Drop us a line in the forums.
- Credit Changes: Because WMDs use credits and many players were accumulating them, we've lowered the amount of credits awarded per round to make things a bit more even going forward. We'll monitor the numbers and tweak as needed.
That's all for now. We'll be continuing to work on new ideas for the game, but if you have suggestions, please feel free to drop us a line.

We're aware of an issue some of you may have experienced while purchasing credits through your cell phone. This issue has now been corrected.
If any of you have purchased credits via cell and have not received them, please contact us immediately with your code and we will credit your account with double the amount of credits that you originally purchased.
Again, we apologize for the inconvenience.
Browsers & Bonuses

What's up Pimps & Pimpettes?
The new version of Pimps Street has been going strong and it's more active than ever! That said, I've got two things I want to touch on real quick:
The new version of Pimps Street is made to run more like a desktop application than a website (no, there's no downloads involved, it's all in the browser). That said, we did some tricks that some older browsers just can't handle (namely Internet Explorer 6).
To not only enjoy the game to its fullest, but to also ensure you are safe across the web, we invite you all to check to see if you are running the newest version of your favorite browser:
This week (9/7/2008 - 9/13/2008) we're doubling down on credits. Purchase any amount of credits during this time and we'll give you double the amount!
Also, don't forget that you get credits when you refer people to Pimps Street and they buy credits. You can use your referral url and referral badge to refer pimps under your name.
You can embed your own version of this badge on your website, myspace or other forums! Grab your referral link and badge from the Referrals
page under the My Account tab.
Pimps Street 3

Pimps Street 3 is now live!
Naturally there's still some kinks and crap, but PS has always been an ongoing thing, so we'll look at this as a public beta. For the next week we'll be taking requests to change your username (since you no longer have aliases in rounds), hit up and Admin to do that.
For those that miss the old site, v2 of Pimps Street will continue to run at http://v2.pimpsstreet.com
That's all for now folks
Pimps Street v3 BETA
Posted Monday, July 14th, 2008
What's up guys. Welcome to the beta of the new Pimps Street. As you've probably seen there is a crapload of changes from the previous version.
Some things to note:
- Playing in this beta will NOT affect your Pimps Street v2 profiles and games. Turns, Credits, Ranks etc are all independent. Think of this as a whole new game with your old stats.
- Because stats are not synched and because we will likely clear the database before moving the site out of beta, you will NOT be able to purchase credits (at least not yet). We're doing this so you don't pay for something and then lose it all should we need to clean the database out.
- At the moment, there is no way to use your reserves or to convert credits to turns. This will be perfected and integrated within a day or so.
- The Black Market is MIA, because, well, honestly we forgot about it right up until the end. Rather than push the beta back, we decided it wasn't so important that we couldn't start without it.
Enjoy the game guys, and if you find any other bugs or have a suggestion, please post them in this thread or in the suggestions forum here

As you all will know, the website was inaccessible all day yesterday. This was somthing beyond our control.
A transformer in the datacenter where our new server is hosted caught fire and the datacenter was instructed by the fire department to take down all the generators.
This is why the website was down all day yesterday, alongside thousands of others.
Although the server is now back up, there are still a few problems with it right now, like the very slow login process. But we are working with the datacenter to get this resolved asap.
We are sorry for the inconvenience caused, we know some of you need to your daily dose of Pimps Street to carry on, so we will get all the kinks resolved very soon.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Well, for those of you who still have not worked it out. The news post and notice in the rounds yesterday was nothing but an elaborate April Fools prank
, by yours truly
It was just my way of testing the wits of all the players (and admins for that matter) on the site. And it turned out to be quite successful with only very few people workingout it was a prank.
Everyone missed it, but I had a little message hidden in the news post and notice in the rounds. You can see a little screenshot of it here:
If you look at the old news post, you will see it is still there
Anyway, just the clarify. The website is NOT
being shut down at all, and nor will it ever be. We hope to see it running for a good few years to come, and have some big plans for it very soon.
We also actually do have the power and knowledge to deal with problems like these (if they arise) as we have done so in the past, behind the scenes.
Hope everyone enjoyed my little prank and I'm sure many of you will have some red faces now.
IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ

IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ
I regret to say this, but I have just now received a takedown notice from the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) and the Metropolitan Police for PimpsStreet.com.
The letter states that the website does not comply with UK laws and they want me to either ensure the problems are fixed, or take the website down within the next 48 hours. If neither is done they will proceed to take take legal action to have the website shut down.
There is really very little I can do because there problem with the website is that there are minors playing. There is no real way for me to identify who is a minor and who is not, without hunting down each person individually.
The website is also being run from the UK (I am a British citizen), so I cannot get past this nor do I have the power or knowledge to fight this.
This now means I have no choice but to comply and shut down the website.
This is really a sad day because the website has been running since January 2005 and only just now have we been faced with any kind of legal problems.
The current rounds will continue to run as they are for the next 48 hours, but on Thursday 3rd April, at Midnight the website will be deleted off the server.
Players who have purchased subscriptions or credits in the past 30 days will be refunded by next week.
I am very sorry the site has come to an end like this but, I will be back with a new game (which complies with all laws) in a few months time.
It's been great fun and a pleasure running this site and having all of you as players and I hope to see you all soon at my new game.
April Fools! ;)

As all of you must have noticed, over the last few weeks the game has been running quite slow.
This is due to some issues we are having with our current server.
Basically, some of the main system hardware has degraded over time and this has caused other components to breakdown, lose performance or fail completely.
Some of these components were replaced over the past few days, which is why the site may have been down a few times, but this dosn't seem to have helped much with the overall problem.
Because of this, we have just now ordered a new, higher spec server which is currently in the process of being built and setup.
We will be moved onto a temp server within the next few days, which will speed up the site drastically and then onto our new server roughly 2 weeks later.
We would like to say thank you to all of those who have been patient and stuck it out with us through all of this.
We are doing our very best to get this all sorted out as soon as possible.
